From large-scale tree planting to handling emergency tree removals!
We love being arborists, and we know each tree care project is unique with different challenges. With our 15+ years of expertise, we've successfully dealt with all kinds of jobs. From an emergency residential tree removal, to large scale projects involving hundreds of trees.
As sad as it was to see so many trees get removed to make way for the new community recreational complex at the University of Winnipeg, we are happy and proud to say we were able to relocate five trees to a green space across the street. We were also able to salvage most of the material from the other trees to be used as building material within this new complex and around the university grounds. Salvage and reclamation of these trees was a very important aspect of this project. Thanks again to our good friends at Wood Anchor for using us in their reclamation projects.
When we received a panicked phone call from the Winnipeg Art Gallery saying the tree service that agreed to move this monstrous spruce tree from a North Kildonan front yard to inside the gallery suddenly stopped taking their calls three days before their tree decorating gala, we knew we had to step up to the plate. Nothing we like more at Alliance Tree Care than a challenge for a good cause. Many thanks to our good good friends at Harder Machine for building us that mammoth tree stand on 24hrs notice.
There is a beautiful Oak grove called the Hummocks next to the Childrens Garden in Assiniboine Park. Unfortunately this area underwent some drastic upgrades a few years ago with some grade and drainage changes. On average approx. 6”-8” of new soil and sod were placed over top of the roots of these lovely trees. Most mature trees do not like such changes to their environment but Oaks absolutely cannot tolerate it. They are extremely sensitive to changes in grade and drainage and like most Oak trees, they only show the symptoms of this stress a couple of years after the event.
A video short documentary featured around the the 'Grandpa Elm' at Assiniboine Park. Unfortunately, a lot of these magnificently large and old elm trees have succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease, which means they eventually need to be removed to help prevent the spread to other surrounding trees. Watch our entire process from start to finish and see how we accomplished a safe and quick removal of one the parks most iconic and largest trees.
